What defects will appear in the production of industrial aluminum profiles?

February 3,2023.
The production process of industrial aluminum profiles includes smelting, extrusion, straightening, oxidation and other steps. A little carelessness in each step may lead to unqualified quality or quality defects. What we have to do is to try to avoid these defects and reduce economic losses during the procurement process. So do you know what are the common defects in the production process of industrial aluminum profiles? The following editor will briefly introduce it to you.
1. Profile surface defects. During the extrusion process, if the surface of the mold is not smooth, the equipment is outdated, the extrusion process is immature or the personnel are not properly operated, etc., it will cause extrusion defects on the surface of the profile. For example, bubbles, inclusions, layers, color difference, distortion, etc. will affect the quality of the product.

2. Oxide film defects. The industry standard is that the thickness of the oxide film is not less than 10um (microns). If the thickness is insufficient, corrosion and rust will occur on the surface of the profile, which will affect the later use. If the oxide film does not meet the standard, it can reduce the cost of the enterprise. Therefore, before purchasing, we can use instruments and tools to check whether the thickness of the oxide film meets the standard, and then decide whether to purchase.

3. Raw material defects. Many customers choose low-priced aluminum profiles in order to save costs. However, those with low prices may often have serious quality problems. For example, using waste aluminum to smelt aluminum profiles will reduce the performance of the product. Some companies will make a fuss about the wall thickness of the profile, reducing the standard wall thickness by 0.5mm, so that the meter weight of the entire profile will be reduced a lot, and the price will naturally be much cheaper.

4. Deformation defect. The main reason is that during the processing, the temperature is not well controlled, resulting in the extruded profiles not up to standard in straightness and hardness, which cannot be used in precision instruments.
